one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Kindergarten, Here I Come!

Yesterday I subbed in 2nd grade. It was great to see some of my students from last year and observe what their brains are up to now! I had a lot of fun until I got poured on and frozen while escorting children to their cars at carpool. I am subbing today in Kindergarten. It is great to get a break from my routine and surprising that 26 kids that are not related to you can be easier than 4 that are! Go figure!

Outfit:

Sweater Coat: Goodwill. Made by Forever 21. I find that Goodwill is like a Forever 21 outlet. I guess the fact that their clothes tend toward trends, makes them get discarded regularly.

Black Shirt: Old Navy. It says "Witchy" on it, for Halloween adventure, but I'm wearing it inside out.

Pants: I got these from the Big Sunday fundraiser my school hosted a couple of years ago. If you go to the link you can find out how to get involved for 2010.

  1. Can I just say I checked out the uniform project and while it's well photographed and a pretty cool idea I don't find it any more compelling then yours. Also, its totally different. And actually, she gets to wear whatever accessories she wants whenever she wants so she can still actually consume on a high level and fulfill all her wants and desires with stuff.
