one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Pajama Day!

Third time on this site I've been caught in my jammies! This time, it's required. I am subbing again today and everyone will be in pj's. It's Pajama Day! I was hoping that I would get to be here today, and I do! Yay, Pajama Day!!!

Now on a more serious note, I got two emails yesterday about Los Angeles City Council. One from UCLA Live! and one from my talented friend Maura (hear her here). She sings with me in The Monte Carlo Band and she rocks! The City Council is "considering eliminating the Department of Cultural Affairs' sole dedicated revenue stream, the 1% allocation from the Transient Occupancy Tax that currently funds much of the Department's programming and operations". You can read about it at Take Action: Arts for LA.

I understand that the City of L.A. is strapped for cash, but it is frustrating to see our tax dollars going to $100,000+ pensions, while we have to fight to keep art in our smog-filled city.
I'm all for retirement plans, but I get a little peeved when I hear that Bernard Parks is getting a $265,000 pension ON TOP of his
$178,789 salary. I mean if he's working, he's not really retired, right? Maybe he should get his fat pension after he retires from public service. Or maybe we should continue to pay his, and other city employees pensions and forgo the little extras that make this city semi-habitable.

Outfit:

PJ Bottoms: These belonged to my high school boyfriend.

Fleece Pullover: This belongs to my current boyfriend! We'll talk about his Clippers fanaticism later.

Shoes (not pictured): Fit Flops!

Doppelganger: Leo

  1. I take it Leo wasn't involved in said PJ Day and opted for some pants for school. I for one love the legs, especially the cute knees, but I'm sure school ain't interested.

I'll take a look at the links. Thanks for posting.
