one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Friday A-Go-Go!

We had the chance to go to Malibu today, so we jumped on that like a hot tamale! Actually, it was less like a jump and more like a slow crawl because we couldn't leave until the boys had cleaned their room and the back room. Having them clean up is a never ending saga that usually ends with me yelling and taking privileges away. It can take hours and sometimes days. On Monday, Charlie decided to dump out all of the containers that hold toys in the back room, and organize them by color. This took him over 4 hours. He did finish though. And I only got three new gray hairs while waiting for him to be done.

Hot Gossip: Octomom refused to star in an adult film even though she would've been able to pay off her overdue mortgage! She did an ad for PETA instead. This is actually not hot gossip. It is over a week old. I still always like talking about Octomom though... She's pretty!

I am with friends and the kids, so I don't want to write anymore. I want to enjoy the moment! Embrace the now! (That is B.S. for "I'm writing a short post today.")

Outfit:

Two out of three pieces were given to me. In other circumstances I probably would never wear them out. I usually wear the tank to bed, and I have never worn the fur trimmed shrug. Frankly, I never thought I would. Never say never, I suppose!

Embellished tank: From sister. De Coded.

Knit faux fur trimmed shrug: Gift from a parent. Luopilou. Los Angeles.

Skirt: Salvation Army. I believe I got this in high school. Seen in: Iron Lung goes to Roscoe's

Shoes: Zac & Amy

Shots of the day: Maternal instinct in my tough n' tumble girl?

Malibu snackin'!
