one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Doubt!

Many times I have sat in front of the computer at the end of the day, after all the little ones are in their beds, (except Haha usually), and imported my pictures. Many, many, times. Many times also, I have seen my pictures and thus my outfits and thought, "Uh-oh. Not so good." Today is one of those days. I am also amazed at how "fresh" I feel in the morning when I put my outfits together and how messy I look and feel when I take my photos hours and hours later. C'est la vie, I suppose.

I actually put on another outfit this morning but it was so cute I didn't want to "waste" it on a day of where I would just be chauffeuring the kids around. This has happened more than once. And truthfully, I don't remember some of the cute outfits I created and opted to wear at a later date. I hope I can remember some of them. I guess time will tell.

After I picked up the boys from their sleepover, I dropped Charlie off for a rehearsal. I don't know how it happened, but the dude seems to be very hammy. While Leo, Haha, and I were waiting for Charlie we grabbed some lunch and walked through The Water Garden. It was really nice to follow their lead and take time to explore. So often I am so busy managing my kids that I forget to enjoy them. I have to remember this.

We drove to Malibu for a little impromptu visit with Josh.

Outfit:

Striped shirt: Hand me down from friend. Gap.

Red dress: Goodwill. Also from Gap. Seen in: Riddle of the Jinx! and Reality Check!

Under skirt: Salvation army. A million years old, but I love it! Seen in: Iron Lung, Friday A-Go-Go, and We Are All Hypocrites! (maybe more, but I don't feel like searching).

  2. Happy Mother's Day Shaysh! Go see BABIES, the documentary which follows 4 babies' first year of life. I haven't seen it yet but I'm eager to and it just seems like a perfect mother's day type of film.
