one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Sushi Sunday!

Today, I slept in, and luxuriated in the warmth of bed. It was great, and when I woke I felt rested for the first time all week! Let's hope the trend continues...

In the afternoon, Pollyanna and I went to The Galleria Market in Koreatown. We had a plan to make sushi for dinner.  The market is almost like a Korean Costco, but on a smaller scale. There are little demo stations, and delicious Korean food, and tons and tons of fresh produce, fish, and meat. It's busy and bright and it's a fun place to venture. Next time I go, I'm going to visit the rest of the mall above the market.

Our sushi adventure was thwarted by a rice mishap, and we ended up making a sort of nori- burrito with the messed up rice. It wasn't perfect, but it worked.

Outfit:

Gray Tank: Urban Outfitters. A million years old.

Print tank: Salvation Army. Also a million years old.

Jeans: Goodwill. Gap.

Shoes: Fit Flops.

This is a summer version of an outfit I've already worn, but it's not a repeat! Boo-yah-shakah-lahka-boo-yah!!!

A picture C-Dawg wanted me to share with everyone!

  1. Layna: Please tell C-Dawg that I loved his picture. I am assuming that it is a picture of a Super-hero--I did not know that there was one named Alvin. I especially like the lightning bolts.
    Love,
