one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

The Groundlings!

I'm leaving to go to The Groundlings in mere moments to see a friend perform. The performance begins at 10 and tomorrow is the final day of summer school! I am a little worried that I will look bedraggled and busted in the morning, but I probably won't be seeing most of these parents ever again. So who cares if I look like yesterday's bread?

I guess the upside of aging is that you care less about how other people see you. At least I do. I feel sad that I wasted my youth feeling ugly and hating the way I looked. Now, I've accepted my flaws and imperfections, and I think I'm alright... But I'm old!...

Ah, the ironies of life!

Outfit:

Shirt: Hand me down from cousin. Forever 21.

Skirt: Thrift store. This used to be a dress and I cut it for some reason. Silly me!!!

Shoes: Predictions!

  2. Wait until you're 67 and then tell me about old (of course I'll be 98 so talk loud)

  3. All right, when you're 98 and I'm 67, we'll talk!!!

Babies, eh? Believe me, I'm old. When you have two assistants that are sophomores in college, you're old!
