one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

At the Getty!

Very last minute, I decided to go to the Getty with my cousin and my friends to see Aloe Blacc. As I got ready to head out, I realized that we should take advantage of all of the great things the city has to offer more often. I would have dragged the kids along, but they got home at 2:30 a.m. last night, and were very tired. I actually did not get to sleep until 3 because I was terrified that something had happened to them. Richard's cell phone was off, and Jordan wasn't answering his phone. Richard had told me that they would get home at midnight, although he denies it now.

Anyway, I did not do my post last night until it was very late and tonight is following suit. It is 12:51. Oh how I have let myself go. In the early days of posting I was mortified if I was not done by noon! I should
definitely write earlier because when it gets to be too late I don't really write well. I sort of ramble. Like I am doing now...

The Getty was great. Great company. Great music. Dancing. Drinks. A nice walk up the hill which included the a deer sighting, and a conga line! Music really does bring the people together! Thanks Madonna for that insight! And thank you to The Getty for a lovely night out!

Outfit:

Shirt: NYC street vendor. 4th time wearing it!

Sequin jacket: A good friend in high school gave this to me. I believe it had been her mother's.

Jeans: Goodwill. Gap.

Shoes: American Eagle.

My sparkly pups! The third sparkly pup was napping!
