one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Purple Reign!

Today I ran errands and FINALLY got my clothes from Hollyway Cleaners! Yay! I will say, after getting all my clothes back wrapped in plastic, that I do not intend to go to the dry cleaners for a very long time, if ever. And, I will not buy anything in the future that is "Dry Clean Only".

Oh my gosh! My post was interrupted by a possum running by the side of the house and startling me! I opened the curtain to see what it was doing, and it was eating left over cat food from our feral cat friends that we trapped and released a few years ago. The cats just sat there with their ears down and fur up and watched it eat! Yuck! Then I tapped the window and the possum bee-lined for our garage! It went right in as if that is where it lives! I almost hyperventilated and had a major freak out. Richard just laughed at me.

So, as I just spent 20 minutes dealing with that, I am going to head straight into my outfit. I was going to write a very cerebral post about education and philosophy, but I just don't have time for that now... I went with purple today, which always makes me think of my youth. I had a two-year purple phase in elementary school, where just about every outfit I wore included purple.  Although I don't wear purple that often today, I still enjoy the color very much. Purple rules!

Outfit:

Long sleeve shirt: Forever 21.

Cami: Old Navy.

Jeans: Goodwill. Gap.

Shoes: American Eagle.

Leo in a box.

  1. "Dealing with that" means yelling "Go away!" and "Richard, do something!" for twenty minutes.
