one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

The State Fair!

We spent 12 fun-filled hours at the state fair today. It was a ton of fun once the temperature dropped a bit. We did everything from eating chocolate covered bacon to petting baby goats, and it is two a.m. now, so I'm going to do a post in pictures today!

Outfit:

I had to get dressed in a flash, and I knew it was going to be hot, so I immediately thought skirt. I grabbed this skirt and quickly looked for a top to go with it. As I had just worn this top yesterday it was close by and I thought it would do. The only problem is that it is a bubble top that I dismantled and it has two layers. What was I thinking? I was so hot and miserable with the extra layer, that I had to tie it up. That was better.

Shirt: emma & sam.
Skirt: Thrift Store.

Shoes: Fit Flops. My feet were comfy the whole day!

Sweater: I've had this since high school. One of my faves. I think it was my grandpa's.

All good things must come to an end!!!
