one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Band Practice!

Nothing warms my soul, or gets my blood pumping, like music! Music, music, music! It's the best! Tonight, my Montecarlo Band-mates and I had rehearsal for a bat mitzvah we are playing for next weekend. We played some new tunes, including Katy Perry's "California Gurlz", Estelle's "American Boy", and Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'", current teen favorite thanks to the show Glee.

They are all fun songs, although the prude side of me thinks that California Gurlz is a little risque for 13- year-olds, but pop lyrics brimming with sexual innuendo is nothing new. I remember "Like a Virgin" playing on the radio when I was a youngin'. I used to sing "Like A Vee-Jo", because I was too embarrassed to say the word virgin. I'm not sure why. I guess because I was aware it had something to do with sex.

We also rehearsed our 10 minute Hora extravaganza! I almost hyperventilated while I was doing it, but it was fun!

  1. Is it hot or cold in LA? Hard to tell from the outfits.

  2. Love this outfit!

You may want to also try Estelle's new one "Fall In Love." It's uptempo like American Boy, super sweet and a great groove.

I'll send you a link to the video :)
