one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

Chez Cray-Cray!

It was another crazy night here at the Espy house, but what else is new? I won't go into details, but my evening involved my cell phone dying, Leo peeing in a cup, and me thinking my friend was in danger. She was fine, (Her cell phone was tucked away in the back seat, and she was late due to a pooping child and L.A. traffic), and we ended up having a fun night with our five kids.

After she left, I wrangled the kids into bed and promptly fell asleep with HaHa. Now I'm blogging at 2:00 a.m... Yikes!

Anyway, lovely readers, I have a favor to ask.

Can you please take the non-fashion related poll on the right? Also, please feel free to leave any comments! It would give me some insight, and perspective.

Thank you! I can't wait to see the results!

  1. A little too much information about Leo, but I am dying to find out what's up with that. It seems that your posting is always the last thing you do before bedtime. Maybe on the weekend you do it earlier and get to bed a little earlier. Lucky for you, tonight is daylight savings and you get to turn your clocks back. Wow, you will finally get an extra hour of sleep.

  2. Sounds nuts. I can't only imagine what's going on there. I miss it.

  3. Right there with you, and much as I get and appreciate all the heartfelt comments about how it will be over in the blink of an eye and to appreciate those incredible kids while they're young, I also want to acknowledge that right now, sometimes it's the 9th circle of hell. And you are a freaking superhero for keeping it all together. And sometimes kids are alone on the porch, and sometimes they're peeing in cups, and yet they are fed, loved, well-adjusted, politically aware, getting a superb education, and you are Mom of the Year. Don't you forget it!

  4. No way in hell should a 5 year old be out on a porch alone at 9:00 pm. While there are boogie men out there, the bigger issue is that a 5 year old does what he does because of how he perceives the world around him. He does not yet think logically so he does not understand the consequences that may happen if he makes a rash decision. Don't put a child in that position...it is not fair to the child..Aunt Janine
