one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

7 Ways!

I went to my 20 year high school reunion and it was quite lovely. Sweet and sentimental. Taking that walk down memory lane was quite fun, and it was truly great to see everyone.

As I said I would, I wore my Seven Ways Dress. I got many a compliment on it, and I was quite comfortable in it. It really is a gem.
Thank you, Aunt D!

Richard says I have to post twice a week now, so I was thinking of having a weekly post that is dedicated to HaHa's fashion. She has a very strong sense of personal style, and is very particular about what combination of items she wants to rock. Look for HaHa's closet on Wendesday. I will post up several of her outfits from the last few weeks. They are very, very, cute, and the majority of them are hand-me-downs!

I hope Easter was full of eggs, chocolate, and love for everyone. We spent the day at Pan-Pacific Park, and a good time was had by all!!!

Hippity-Hop! Hoppity-Hip!

Outfit:

Dress: This 7 ways dress was a gift from my wonderful Aunt Diane!

Tube top: Very old. A New York special.

Shoes: American Eagle.

  2. I love those kinds of dresses! I wish I could afford to get you and Kirstin Two Birds Bridesmaid dresses, but they're just too pricey. I read online that they're actually easy to make, if you know how to sew... but I'm not there yet. Where's that one from?

  4. Layna: You look lovely in your 7-Way. That particular one is from a catalog called Soft Surroundings. I love the idea of a Hollis-centric blog. I think she can give the Sartorialist a run for its money.
    Love,
