one closet, one year!

I was getting dressed for a friend's birthday party and I didn't know what I was going to put on my body. I looked in my closet and it seemed empty, unpromising. I've had these moments before; everything was old, ill-fitting, or blah. I thought to myself, "Ugh! I have NOTHING to wear!" Then I began rifling through my closet and saw a forgotten shirt I loved and many more, and I realized I was crazy. I had plenty to wear, and plenty to choose from. My closet was FULL of treasures! At that moment I decided I would take a year to explore my closet and to add NOTHING new to my wardrobe.

I would create a NEW outfit for each day in order to maximize my wardrobe and shake up my style.

Basically, I would try to "snap out" of my fashion rut, and appreciate what I have.

It was my New Years' project:
One Closet, One Year.

8 years later...

So, it's been like 8 years since I've posted, but if I don't post I will lose this account and it will be sucked up into non-existence. I don't have much to say, but I want to copy this blog before it disappears as I was nostalgic last night reading some posts...

So much has happened since them and this is like a window into that time. I was stressed. I had three young children, and an almost teenager I was dealing with daily. I didn't sleep much, but I was younger and could deal with it.

I have said often that I would re-boot my blog with "One Closet; This Year", but I haven't gotten around to it. I still am 99% thrifter and gifter, but I haven't been so motivated to make "interesting" outfits. That said, I do often get complimented on garments and my reply is often: "I got it at Goodwill." So. There. That's it. I'm hoping that this will not evaporate. But if it does, that's ok...

I will try to find semi-recent photo on this computer to upload...

This is the latest outfit on my computer. All Goodwill (save my skivvies)... I wore it to the opera!

That's it for now.

Signing off!!!
